By far my favorite app for the iPhone is Instagram, a nifty photo sharing app that has become an indispensable part of my daily life.
I love taking photos (as most of you know) and Instagram has made it incredibly easy for iPhone users to share their snapshots with others.
Instagram is filled with a tightly-knit community of people who have a genuine appreciation of spontaneous photography, and I feel that they are mostly people who realize that it’s the COMPOSITION and NOT the equipment that you use that makes a great and engaging photo.
The super-friendly and supportive community on Instagram is definitely one of the major reasons why I’m such a big fan of the app.
Another reason I like Instagram is because I think THIS is what Twitter should have been like.
I’m not self-centered enough to have a Twitter account – i.e. I don’t think I’m important enough that people would want to know every fucking thing that I’m doing all the time, but Instagram lets users share creative photographs with like-minded people and you can also talk/comment/discuss about the photos, which is cool.
To date, I’ve posted more than 1100 photos on Instagram, so if you have the app, check out my feed (username BadBoyBen)
If you have an iPhone but don’t have Instagram, download it and check it out (it’s free)
If you don’t have an iPhone then hurry up and buy one so you can start using Instagram!
A couple of months ago, my iPhone 2G had a nasty accident and the screen kinda broke.
I took it to my mate, Pinky, who is an expert on all smartphones, PDAs and iPhones (of course)
Don’t ask me why we call him Pinky, even though his namecard says Ping:
Hmm … interesting qualification. I wonder which university he graduated from?
Pinky’s shop also sells iPhones, iPads, HTC whatevers and basically every type of PDA and smartphone.
Pinky quickly found out what the issue was and replaced the broken parts for me.
The whole thing took about an hour and voila my 2G was working again!
Pinky’s shop is located in Prangin Mall, Penang and they have a super duper promotion now for ALL iPhone users: for only RM200, they will jailbreak your phone for you and install whatever apps you want BUT BUT BUT this service includes ALL future upgrades to the iPhone OS, so once a new firmware comes out (which is every couple of months) Pinky’s guys will upgrade the OS and re-jailbreak it for you.
Pretty sweet deal and really convenient for those of you who want a jailbroken phone but don’t know how to do it yourself!

Here is a very informative video showing the different speeds of 4 generations of iPhones.
The 2G is running OS3.13
The 3G is running OS3.12
The 3GS is running OS4.01
The 4 is running OS4
If you have a 2G or 3G iPhone, my recommendation is DO NOT upgrade to OS4 because your phone will slow down so much that it will become almost unusable!
If you are thinking of buying an iPhone 4, my advice is to wait a bit till Apple comes up with a solution to the “death-grip” problem (i.e. if you hold the phone in a certain way cell reception is hampered)
And for fuck’s sake – it’s called an iPhone 4 and NOT iPhone 4G.
The American Library of Congress has deemed that jailbreaking your iPhone in order to install applications not approved by Apple and/or to unlock is legal under new rules announced today.
According to the Associated Press:
“… the decision to allow the practice commonly known as “jailbreaking” is one of a handful of new exemptions from a federal law that prohibits the circumvention of technical measures that control access to copyrighted works. Every three years, the Library of Congress authorizes such exemptions to ensure that existing law does not prevent non-infringing use of copyrighted material. Another exemption will allow owners of used cell phones to break access controls on their phones in order to switch wireless carriers.”
Hahaha … but you can be too, since EA has such extensive skater customization options that you can make pretty much anyone in the game.
The t-shirt I’m wearing in the game is also one I custom designed myself, since I didn’t really like the DC ones on offer. The kicks are some super fly Rob Dyrdek mids. DC has a lot more kicks in this game than in Skate 2, but 99% of them are black so they all look the same.
(Jeremy, you gotta admit that T looks pretty tight, right? How about making a real one? Hehehe)
In Skate 3 you start a board company with a friend, and as you complete tasks you become better known and sell more boards – you get to add riders to your team.
It’s a pretty well thought out way to entice you to go through some of the insanely hard challenges and there’s nothing I can really complain about. The graphics have been improved, more tricks have been added (dark slides!) and I basically get to relive my teenage years every time I pop in this game. Hahaha
Oh yeah and just in case you don’t have an Xbox 360 … EA has also just released Skate It for the iPhone – which is fucking impossible to play, so I don’t recommend it.
