INSIDE OUT + UNTITLED CHAPTERS

Inside Out & Untitled Chapters - a project for the people of Macau

Sio Ng, chairman (or should I say chairwoman) of the macau.creatives organization contacted me via AliveNotDead and told me about 2 projects she was working on – InsideOut and Untitled Chapters.

Both projects are about giving people around the world more of an insight into Macau’s burgeoning indie art/music scene and feature the crème de la crème of Macau’s independent artistic/musical community.

As Macau develops at an ever-increasing pace and the cost of living spirals upwards into the stratosphere, are the youth of Macau being left behind or unable to cope? What does the future hold for them? These questions and more are raised by InsideOut and Untitled Chapters.

Inside Out & Untitled Chapters - a project for the people of Macau

InsideOut consists of a CD and DVD, with a diverse mix of musical styles on them and I have to say I’m very impressed with the music featured on the project. I’ve always loved music that speaks to the everyman and most of the songs on InsideOut have a very friendly, informal type of feel to them and makes me want to visit Macau to see the things the musicians are talking about in their songs.

Untitled Chapters has some great snapshots of Macau which also make me want to take a trip there to check out all the places documented in the book. The book also has a warm, inviting feel to it which lets me know that the people who produced it really love Macau and wanted to convey this love to the world.

Why can’t Malaysia do something cool like this to promote our country? It would be 100x better and more effective than those disgraceful ads they’re running everywhere.

Below is a recent special feature TVB did on Macau which highlights the rapid growth of this tiny ex-Portugese enclave over the past 10 years. I learned a lot of surprising facts about Macau that I didn’t know before watching this.

Sio and her mom are interviewed in this special, so check it out!

(Of course, the other major person featured in this documentary is Josie’s dad – the King of Macau, Mr. Stanley Ho)

What’s Good? will have a very small quantity of on sale from July 19, 2009 onwards so make sure you drop by and grab a piece of Macau!
