WHAT’S GOOD? SPRING/SUMMER 2009

Since the photos from our recent What’s Good? Spring/Summer 2009 photoshoot were posted up on the Dope blog a few days ago I’ve received a lot of kind feedback from people so I’d like to thank everyone for their support so far.
I’d like to take a little time and give you a little background information on each of the designs so you can have a better understanding of what it’s all about!
The designs and messages presented are basically a reflection of me, or what I am trying to say to the world, which is – Don’t take yourself too seriously.
Too many people in the “streetwear industry” take themselves faaaaaaaar too seriously nowadays and that’s so not how things should be. To me, streetwear has basically evolved from skatewear, and the rebellious/underground nature of how skate brands used to do their shit – punk, DIY attitudes because they didn’t have access to the big budgets and wide distribution networks of commercial brands.
This sort of ethos is something I’ve always identified with and I think will be ingrained into my sub-consciousness forever.
I want the What’s Good? brand to be fun, cheeky and at times a little sarcastic – presenting an alternative view of the world to people who are bombarded with crappy, copycat clothing designs on a daily basis.

What’s Good? Loves You – This design is a special one from us to all the haters out there. Yes, that’s right – I don’t like you too, so fuck you very much. But for all our homies, the T says “What’s Good? Loves You” on the back so don’t say I ain’t showing you any love.

Crack Addict – When I say “Crack Addict” I really don’t mean crack cocaine but the insufferable addiction all sneakerheads have to the almighty elephant/crackle prints from Air Jordan sneakers. The crackle print used on the T was actually taken from a photo I shot of a pair of my own Jordans so you know it’s the real deal.

What’s Good? by Haze – There’s not much to say about this except that this is the most awesome tag in the entire fucking universe because it was painted (yes, hand-painted) by the one and only god-of-graffiti-and-living-legend – his holiness Haze. Sometimes even now I’m still scratching my head as to how the hell we managed to get an opportunity to work with Eric, and there’s not a day that doesn’t go by that I am not grateful to the support he has shown to our little company.

Bastard – This is another sneakerhead’s lament … the day has arrived when guys frequently own more shoes than girls, and this T is all about that.
Headline: “Cleaning the house while her man was out of town, Betty made an absolutely bone chilling discovery!”
Speech bubble: “WTF, the bastard has more shoes than I do!”
I think this is a situation that most sneakerheads nowadays can relate to very well.
Yes girls, some of us have more (a LOT more) shoes than you do.
There’s still one more T in the collection that we didn’t manage to shoot simply because it didn’t make it off the production line in time for our photoshoot so I’ll try to get photos of that up asap.
P.S. One thing that I think you should know is that the S size of all our Ts has a slightly slimmer cut that is suitable for girls to wear – all the Ts you see Shandy modelling are in our S size. It was very important to me that girls get in on some of our action too, hence my decision to make our S size a little smaller for the ladies.
The entire collection will be arriving at What’s Good? in the next couple of weeks, but we are accepting pre-orders now!

Thank you for your support!
