THE ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE

Steve's 600HP 280KM/H R34 GTR

I was in Kuala Lumpur over the weekend for some top secret shenanigans – i.e. finalizing some deals that will make a LOT of people VERY happy but a FEW people VERY unhappy.

Anyways, when it was time to leave, my good buddy Steve offered to give me a ride to the airport.

Regular readers of my blog will have seen Steve’s R34 Skyline GTR before but I can get never get enough of it, and every time I’m either riding in it or driving it, there’s something new there.

Steve’s car is now the show/demo car for one of Malaysia’s hottest modified car events – The Xtreme Nights.

I don’t really know how to describe how fast Steve’s GTR is on the freeway, but imagine someone strapping you to a chair and throwing you out of a 50-storey building and you’re going too fast to scream.

The car’s come a long way since Steve bought it new a few years back. The color’s changed and so has the engine. Slowly but surely, the car has become one of the fastest Skyline’s in the country and a walking showcase of the latest and greatest performance tuning products from Japan.

Hmm … something must be wrong with Steve’s speedo, because we can’t possibly be going that fast.

Something must be wrong with Steve’s A’PEXi FC Commander unit as well.

You’ve all seen the exterior of the car, but how about what really matters? Ladies and gentlemen, here is an exclusive peek under the hood of this 600HP monster.

Since the car is a show car, extra-special attention has been paid to the engine bay, and it shows man.

Anything that could have been carbon-fibered was carbon-fibered, and everything that could have been chromed was chromed.

Even the strut-brace has been carbon-fibered:

The insane RB26DETT is one of Nissan’s most potent engines, and the highest tuned R’s churn out about 1300HP in Japan. There are a couple of 800HP+ R’s in Malaysia, but they are used primarily for drag racing, and not “daily drivers” like Steve’s car.

Only the best parts have been fitted to Steve’s car, such as this GReddy aluminum radiator from Japanese tuning-giant Trust.

HKS air filters with polished aluminum piping bring healthy amounts of cold air to the hungry turbochargers.

The SARD fuel rail keeps the engine supplied with all the fuel it needs … cars like this drink gasoline like I drink booze, the only difference is that is if I don’t get enough to drink, I don’t explode.

I might get a little bit antsy, but I don’t explode.

Damn look at that engine! I could sit there and look at it for hours. And the bastard Steve has really fucking carbon-fibered everything.

You don’t even want to know how much that cost.
