ANDREA MANN

Ok everyone, heads up.
If you love jazz and you are in Penang, then here’s some EXTREMLY good news for you: the G Hotel has invited the lovely Andrea Mann to be their resident performer for February and March.Â
I’ve known about this for a while now (God knows I’ve berated the G’s GM Marco enough times for the previously dodgy music policy – sorry Marco) but I didn’t have a chance to hear Andrea perform until recently.
I only managed to hear her sing for a little while on Valentine’s Day (I arrived late and I had an early flight to catch the next day) but what I heard was enough to make me wish I could hear more.
Her voice has a sweet sort of huskiness that is warm and intimate and draws you into whatever song she is singing. She could probably sing that goddamn Ketchup Song and make it sound sexy.

It’s not very often that a Penang establishment takes its entertainment seriously (just look at all the atrocious cover bands rampant on the island and you will know) but obviously Marco and his team at the G are here to buck that trend.
The G Spot has one of the most beautiful interiors of any bar in Penang, and now with a credible and classy music policy implemented, I consider it to be the best bar by far in Penang. I don’t expect a lot of Penangites to particularly understand what Marco is doing with the G Spot, but then and again I know he is not trying to attract the typical Penangite to the G.
Andrea Mann performs every night (except Sunday) at the G Spot, 1st Floor, G Hotel.
G Spot + Andrea Mann = Sweetness
